This is my homage to Martian Chronicles, a book I read many, many times as a kid. Re-reading (okay, listening to the album with Leonard Nemoy narrating) parts of Martian Chronicles - particularly Usher II - I get the really important directive that Ray Bradbury felt he had to address. He wasn't just worried about book burning, but the elimination of creativity. In this story, in 1995, the books were all burned because they taught about fantasy, not reality. The law became we will not engage in anything that involves any non-real being. If we read about or watch anything that deals with "ghosts...fairies," we will be taken out of reality. There is no happily ever after, so burn those books and media.

And then a rich maverick - someone who endured his entire library being decimated for the greater good - goes to Mars and builds Poe's House of Usher (even down to a mechanical dragon capable of eating people), traps the patrons of Anti-Imagination and a guy from the moral police (and bricks him into a wall) because "if you had read Mr. Poe, you would have guessed my trap."

I wanted to provide a futuristic soundtrack for the setting of 2026 where the stories take place, though call back to the 1960's of Radiophonic Workshop scores. And I am doing a kind of Peter And The Wolf.

I used a Moog Werkstatt-01, Mute Synth II, various cymbals, dulcimer, eBow, 1965 Silvertone acoustic guitar, contact microphones, Audiomulch, iVCS3, Glitchmachines plug-ins and Reason (as my main DAW),
